Historical Information:
Voluntary People's Friendship (DND) is a Soviet voluntary organization that provides assistance to state law enforcement agencies in maintaining public order.
These are volunteers who patrolled and monitored public order along with police from the Soviet period. Such volunteer units were involved in mass events, concerts, rallies and parades, patrolled the streets.
Volunteer people's squads made a significant contribution to the fight against crime. In total, over the first 25 years of the work of the squads, over 800 squads were awarded government orders and medals.
In 1991, after the collapse of the USSR and the ban of the CPSU, the "Voluntary People's Friends" was disbanded.
